Based on THE MASTER BUILDER by HENRIK IBSEN

DIRECTED by SIMON DAVID ZELLER

SCENOGRAPHY & DRAMATURGY by ANNE ELMHOLT

PERFORMED by ANJA BOETHE

In Ibsen's famous play 'The Master Builder', Hilde Wangel enters the life of Master Builder Solness, claiming the kingdom he had promised her 12-year-old self. Wangel persuades Solness to climb the tower of his newly erected house, a task that leads to his death in the final scene. Until today, critics like to read the play as a gender- and generational conflict, focussing on Solness either as a victim or perpetrator in a #metoo discourse. Instead of focussing on Solness, 'Kill Your Darling' sheds light on the character Hilde Wangel, investigating notions of empowerment, resilience, and trauma, as well as the never ending theme of love.

First performed at DASPA, COPENHAGEN, DECEMBER 1 2022
